Ontario’s police watchdog charges Peel officer with assault in connection with suspect’s arrest

Officials with Ontario’s constabulary watchdog accidental a Peel Regional Police serviceman is facing 2 assault-related charges successful transportation with the apprehension of a 22-year-old antheral successful Mississauga successful May.

According to a connection issued by the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) Wednesday morning, the charges stem from an incidental connected May 5.

At astir 5 p.m. connected that day, the connection said officers received a 911 telephone astir a operator who was parked connected Duval Drive, adjacent Creditview Road and Britannia Road West. It was reported the operator was suspected of being impaired.

“During the man’s arrest, helium was earnestly injured,” the connection said.
